THE ABCs ON HOW TO BECOME A TOASTMASTER

Becoming a Toastmaster is as easy as A B C. If you are thinking about becoming a Toastmaster, you are making a wise decision.  Should you become a Toastmaster, you would join the ranks of more than 4 million persons around the world, who since 1924, have developed their speaking and leadership skills.

Follow these simple steps:

– Attend a meeting.  Find a club in your area and attend a meeting. You will be glad you did. Every Toastmaster is a member of the welcoming team and you will be warmly greeted.  At the meeting you will witness Toastmasters presenting speeches and performing leadership roles. You will also experience the Toastmaster International’s culture of learning while doing in a caring environment.  You are welcome to attend more than one meeting before you make a decision to become a member.

B – Become a member.  The Vice President, Membership is your point of contact for beginning your Toastmasters journey.  He/she will explain the benefits of becoming a member, guide you in completing the membership form, collect your membership dues and in conjunction with the Treasurer, ensure that you are duly registered.  No stress, no hassle.  Once you have paid your membership dues, you will receive a New Member Kit to get you started.

– Commit to your development.  Becoming a member of Toastmasters International means you are making a commitment to your growth and development.  Work the programme – deliver speeches, perform leadership roles, enter contests, network. You won’t have to do it alone because you will be assigned a mentor who will be beside you throughout the journey.  Now that you are a member, enjoy the ride.

Now you know the ABCs on becoming a Toastmaster, send us an email at talktsutoastmasters@yahoo.com or join us at our monthly meetings held every 1st Thursday of the month at the Business Development Company (BDC), 151B Charlotte Street, Port of Spain (opposite the Port of Spain General Hospital) at 5:29 p.m.  We look forward to welcoming you!
